The Zagros mountain range is the largest in Iran, stretching for about 2200 kilometers from Armenia in the northwest to the Persian Gulf in the south, and thence eastward to Baluchistan. It consists of several side-by-side ranges, the highest peak of which rises to 4,270 meters. It separates the Iranian plateau from the plains of Mesopotamia and Iraq in the west and the Persian Gulf in the south. As it covers a vast area in the west, it crosses Fars province making it one of the best places to do your hiking and trekking tours while your travel to Iran.
