
Mount Derak (known as Mother Mount) is a Sedimentary rocky mountain located in Shiraz Fars, in the Middle East region in Iran. It is 20 kilometers (12 mi) long.We start trekking from the south flank of Mount Derak , through a rocky and adventurous mountain road full of hills and fantastic scenes, ranged from colorful rocks to river and green lands. Then we head toward an area with seven seasonal separated lakes called ‘Haft-Barm’.

We start trekking in the morning from north of Shiraz along the south flank of Derak mountain toward ‘Aliabad’ (approx. 30 kilometers). There are some standpoints for taking magnificent photos along the rocky road and meanwhile visiting different and special Derak flora (thyme, peanuts, rhubarb, oak, mastic, artichokes, poppy flowers and inverted tulips) and fauna (hawk, fox, hoopoe, partridge). Then we head toward ‘Haft-Barm’ via the dusty road and pass through some villages and also some tribal clans with marvelous tents and life-style. We head back to Shiraz late in the afternoon.
